Optimization of trials for the development of more sustainable seed cure formulations based on chitosan
The service consists of optimizing tests of infection of soybeans specifically with the phytopathogenic fungi Cercospora spp and Fusarium graminearum. The germination power and vigor of the treated seeds will be evaluated after treatment with the formulations developed. These parameters are essential to determine the efficacy of treatments in protecting seeds against infection by pathogens and their ability to germinate and establish themselves as healthy plants.
Methodology
- Supply of chitosan obtained from fishery waste from the Argentine Sea.
- Optimization of the cultivation and maintenance of the two phytopathogenic fungi.
- Dose response curves for the fungus Fusarium graminearum, timing and tuning of the following parameters after treatment: Germination Power and Vigor Test.
Implementing
Agricultural/horticultural sector, where the protection of seeds against diseases is of paramount importance to ensure healthy and productive crops.
Frequently asked questions
Is this service available for different types of crops besides soy?
Yes, this service is available for a variety of crops besides soy. The methodology and formulations developed can be adapted and applied to different types of agricultural and horticultural crops. We have the strains Cercospora spp and Fusarium graminearum. If the user wishes to test other seed pathogens, they shall be provided together with the culture media.
Is it possible to try a formulation that does not include chitosan?
Yes, it is possible to try formulations that do not contain chitosan. If a customer is interested in testing an alternative formulation that does not include chitosan, we can adapt our trials and methodologies to evaluate the effectiveness of such a formulation and determine its suitability to protect crops against disease.
