Functional annotation of algal strain genes
The service refers to the computational analysis of genomes and transcriptomes of organisms of interest. The counterpart will provide the sequences, which can be partial or complete genomes, transcriptomes, proteomes, name of the protein or activity to be searched (data, which do not include genetic material) of species of microalgae.
Methodology
Data analysis will use tools available online or downloadable, which predict similarity, identity and likely function of genes and/or proteins.
Frequently asked questions
What types of genes/proteins can be tested?
We can test any protein, family, or superfamily. We can even analyze proteins with a certain domain, motive or catalytic activity. We can analyze at the level of gene, messenger RNA or protein.
What data does the counterparty need to provide for the service to be performed?
Depending on need, a gene or protein sequence, the name of a gene or protein (including domain names or motifs) or a type of catalytic activity may be provided.
What information does the service provide about the gene or protein of interest?
This depends on the interest of the counterparty. Among other services, we can provide:
- Gene or protein sequences, gene architecture or analysis of motifs and domains within proteins.
- RNA sequences, characteristics predicted in them (possible promoter, 5'and 3' UTRs, translation initiation, etc).
- Analysis of alleles, mutations or synthenia.
- Predicted structure, possible catalytic function, hydrophobicity analysis, transmembrane domains, possible subcellular location and other structural and/or functional predictions.
- Phylogenetic relationships and pangenomic analysis.
- Other (consult).
How late are the test results sent?
This will depend heavily on the type, quantity and complexity of the analyses. Write us with your query and we will respond to you shortly.
