The Biological Research Institute (IIB) regularly develops extension activities to strengthen the link between the scientific system, public university and community. These initiatives aim to generate early scientific vocations in children and young people, contribute with educational actors of all levels and from different contexts, and democratize access to scientific knowledge to improve the quality of life of society.
Among the various outreach activities that have been carried out over the years, we can mention:
- Guided tours of the institute’s laboratories
- Interactive exhibitions of scientific content for all audiences
- Workshops with experimental stations
- Science fairs
- Open classes
In addition, the IIB maintains links with different cultural spaces of Mar del Plata that enhance the reach of its activities. In this context, it has participated in the Federal Festival "Elijo Crecer" - Science 4 Argentina (MAR Museum); the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Encounter with our Science (Auditorium Theater) and the Green Summer Cycle (Lorenzo Scaglia Municipal Museum of Natural Sciences), among others.
